Hex Head Bushing

Since our inception in 1920, Chicago Rivet & Machine Co. has a reputation for high-quality cold formed parts. Fasteners are our specialty which led one of our long-term clients to approach us about mass-producing a hex-head bushing. The customer needed to adhere to a short and strict timeline, which included customer approval and UL listing certification.

The hex-head bushings were created in both aluminum and brass, and fabricated using a double backward extrusion process. We used a hex-head die followed by a secondary drill and tap process, all within precise tolerances of ±0.005 inches. Our team was able to deliver the annual order of 2.5 million parts in less than 10 weeks. The customer was incredibly pleased with our ability to meet their strict timing and tolerance needs. In addition to the tight tolerances, short timelines, and fast UL compliance, we were able to reduce costs for the client compared to their previous screw machining vendor.
